POP fans will have a 'new idol' to look out for, after a group of singers, plus a band, have challenged each other's singing and dancing skills in a Commercial Radio contest.
The six contenders are singers Edmond Leung Hon-man, Karen Tong Po-yu, Bondy Chiu Hok-yee, Amanda Lee Wai-man, Raymond Cho Wing-lim and the group Wind Fire Ocean.
Organised for the second time by CR's Radio 2, the 'New Idol Challenge Quality Show' puts each contestant through a 12-minute song and dance test.
Besides singing and dancing skills, the performers are also expected to project pop star charisma, said Wallace Kwok Kai-wah, creative director, of the Commercial Radio promotions and production department.
In fact, star charisma is an absolute essential in the making of a successful artiste, he added.
The contest title, 'New Idol', could be misleading, because the participants have been chosen for their stage experience as well, Mr Kwok said.
