INDOSUEZ Asset Management Asia believes it stands to gain retirement fund management business from start-up funds and the growing trend towards specialist fund management.
The group's specialty is Asian fund management and it hopes to win a bigger share of funds which have, until recently, been tied to one manager.
Around the world, there is a growing trend towards unbundling fund management from one tied manager into a group of several specialists, based on performance history, among other things.
According to figures supplied by the group, Indosuez ranked second among retirement fund managers for the period 1988-1994 with an annualised return of 15.8 per cent.
Indosuez director Mark Konyn said the Hong Kong fund management scene had long been dominated by several big players.
This situation had developed because retirement benefits were mainly offered by big international companies, who looked to traditional Hong Kong managers when seeking a fund manager.
