MONA Brown (South China Morning Post, May 9) asked why she was given a parking ticket in the 'obscure' area of South Bay Close. While it is not possible to assess the merits of Ms Brown's case without knowing the exact details, police records show that this area is subject to many reports from local residents complaining about indiscriminate parking. It is necessary for police to take action occasionally to prevent the situation getting out of hand.
I can assure Ms Brown that maintaining traffic flow and prosecuting the more serious traffic violators remain our top priorities.
Should Ms Brown wish to pursue her grievance, she may contact the Senior Superintendent (Traffic) Hong Kong Island, at Central Police Station, 10 Hollywood Road. That would also be the best course of action for her sympathiser, Jamie Price (Post, May 13), who believes his motorbike was unfairly ticketed at the Star Ferry terminal.
