ACTIVITY centred on electronics firms and related companies, but trading in the category was mixed with some electronics counters closing up, others down, yesterday.

  Among the makers of consumer electronic products which made bigger gains were Capetronic International, General Electronics, Wah Nam Group, Tomei International and Great Wall Electronics.

  Capetronic International edged up 0.1 cent or 4.7 per cent, to 2.2 cents.

  General Electronics rose 3.5 cents, or 10 per cent, to 38.5 cents.

  Wah Nam Group closed firmer at 13.1 cents, up 1.1 cents or 9.1 per cent.

  Personal stereo manufacturer Tomei International was up 5.5 cents, or 11.3 per cent, to end at 54 cents.

  Great Wall Electronics rose three cents, or five per cent, to 62 cents.

  Electronic firm Pro-Art Technology rose three cents, or 8.2 per cent, to 39.5 cents.

  Wong's International rose four cents, or 5.7 per cent, to 74 cents with 11 million shares traded.

  Daiwa Associate was off two cents, or down 5.4 per cent, to 35 cents.

  Yanion International lost one cent, or five per cent, to 19 cents.

  Group Sense lost 0.5 cents, or 1.2 per cent, to 40.5 cents.

  Kingboard Chemical extended its losses yesterday, shedding 10 cents, or 4.25 per cent, to close at $2.25 on turnover of $1.5 million.

  Group Sense, Great Wall Electronics, Capetronic International and Wong's International were also the most heavily traded stocks of the day.

  The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index closed weaker at 1,043.99, off 12.03 points or 1.13 per cent against a 0.59 per cent fall on the Hang Seng Index.

  Yizheng Chemical Fibre was the worst H-share performer. It closed at $2.825, down 10 cents amid active trading.

  It outperformed the Hang Seng Index by 19 per cent over the longer term but underperformed the index 14 per cent from the year to date.

  Goldlion Holdings, whose chairman Tsang Hsin-chi's past criminal record was revealed this week, fell to $2.075.

  It underperformed the Hang Seng Index by 14 per cent over the longer term.
