THERE is currently a frenzy of activity at airports across the Asia-Pacific.
While we in Hong Kong are preoccupied with the forthcoming mega-port at Chek Lap Kok, a bevy of other projects are set to come on stream across the region as well, offering new levels of business opportunity.
Attention focuses on China, where major airport construction is being undertaken in Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai-Pudong.
In the next five years, new airports also will be built at Shantou, Haikou, Hangzhou, and seven other cities at the last count.
Malaysia,the Philippines, South Korea and Thailand also will see new airports in the next few years.
The Pearl River Delta in particular is to see a boom in airport infrastructure.
Adding to the new airports at Guangzhou and Chek Lap Kok, Zhuhai Airport is to become international by mid-1996 and Macau will open later this year.
