CHIEF Secretary Anson Chan Fang On-sang is due to arrive in London today for the visit which meant she was unable to meet senior Chinese official Lu Ping. Mrs Chan is principally taking a long holiday - she is not expected back in Hong Kong until the end of June. The Chief Secretary will host a lunch at the Cowley Street, London home of Commissioner Sir David Ford, today where she will meet MPs, including Labour's new front bench spokesman on Hong Kong, Paul Murphy. Although she is expected to visit the Foreign Office during her stay in London, the Hong Kong Government office insisted that her time away from the territory was meant as leave. Mrs Chan has kept to her original plan to visit Britain despite Mr Lu's invitation which was received only days before his recent visit to the territory.
