DEGREE studies in librarianship are not currently available in the territory. However, a three-year, part-time diploma course is offered by the University of Hong Kong's School of Professional and Continuing Education and the Hong Kong Library Association for people working in libraries.
University graduates start working at public libraries of the Urban and Regional Councils as Assistant Librarian (II) , who are required to take the abovementioned course.
HKCEE graduates can take a one-year certificate programme for Library Assistants organised by the Chinese University of Hong Kong's School of Continuing Studies and the Library Association.
