ASIAN investors are generally under-exposed to the United States' market, according to Cynthia Liu, director of investment services at Jardine Fleming Unit Trusts.
'We have been quite keen on the US market since the beginning of the year,' she said.
'Certainly, one plus of the US market is its lower volatility. The market is big and mature. You don't have that in Asia.
'One point we are trying to get across is that people should use it as a diversification tool.
'Exposure to the US market lowers your overall risk. It lowers volatility but does not reduce return.' Ms Liu said many Hong Kong investors believed the US was a boring market and offered low returns but this was not so.
'It is actually exciting because it is large and there are some interesting emerging companies coming up.
'People are saying, 'Look, the market is hitting new highs, why are you recommending it'? We say hitting new highs does not mean it is expensive.
