IT is astonishing and deplorable to learn that more than 15 million plastic bags are used every day, mostly from supermarkets.
Many customers demand more plastic bags than they need when they go to these supermarkets. They just take it for granted and do not care about the environment.
The supermarkets should therefore charge customers for each plastic bag.
Another proactive method would be to establish a corner at every supermarket to collect plastic bags. This procedure was implemented at Wellcome supermarkets some time ago, but was then abolished.
Could Wellcome supermarkets not consider setting up this idea again so that people who are concerned about the environment can help protect it for future generations? It would be good to see other supermarkets doing the same.
Only by working together proactively to save the environment can we have a better place to live.
