SUN Hung Kai Properties has received Buildings Department approval for a large-scale residential development at Sai Sha Road in Cheung Muk Tau. The project, situated in the Sai Kung North area, will have fifteen 13-storey residential blocks with a shared club house. The planned development is one of the largest of 50 new building projects approved by the Buildings Department in March. The only bigger development will be the Hong Kong Housing Society's planned construction of four high-rise residential towers in Tseung Kwan O. Landview Investment also secured approval for a luxury project to build 11 blocks of three-storey residences at 74 Kellett Road on the Peak. Kwong Sang Hong plans to build a 31-storey commercial-residential property at 68 Bonham Road in Mid-Levels. Of the 50 building plans approved, 29 are for Hong Kong Island, six for Kowloon and 15 for the New Territories. The approved plans include 13 for residential and residential-commercial developments, eight for commercial development and four for factory and industrial developments. In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 43 building projects, which involve 677,176.3 square feet of usable domestic floor area, and 1.46 million sq ft of usable non-domestic floor area. Declared cost of new buildings completed in March was $2.89 billion. During the month, the Buildings Department issued 40 occupation permits - nine for Hong Kong Island, 14 for Kowloon and 17 for the New Territories.
