A NEW pro-vice chancellor for Administration and Business has been appointed at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST).
Paul Bolton, who is currently registrar and secretary at Britain's University of Hull, will take up the position in August.
In 1984, Mr Bolton - as the registrar of the University of Warwick - made the first of what would be dozens of trips to Hong Kong, which he says he has come to know 'very well'.
Mr Bolton has also paid many visits to China's major cities and universities, where he addressed Chinese students keen on pursuing academic studies at British universities.
'A year ago, I decided I wanted a new challenge, to do new things in a new place,' Mr Bolton said.
In fact, the 'newness' of the HKUST - established in 1991 - was one of the factors that most appealed to him in embarking on his new career direction.
