ADPL in seat dilemma

1-MIN READ1-MIN

THE Association for Democracy and People's Livelihood (ADPL) is considering fielding vice-chairman Leung Kwong-cheong as the Regional Council's representative in the Legislative Council in September.

The ADPL had been thinking of supporting Regional Councillor Ting Yin-wah for the seat.

Vice-chairman Bruce Liu Sing-lee said yesterday that if the association decided to support Mr Leung, Mr Ting would be the party's candidate in the Kwai Ching and Islands constituency against Democratic Party legislator Lee Wing-tat.

The ADPL announced last week Mr Leung would be its candidate for the election committee race, in which all district board members will vote to select 10 Legislative Council members.

Mr Liu said the association's decision on who should run for the Regco indirect seat would depend on who - Mr Ting or Mr Leung - would get more votes in the Regional Council.

The ADPL would come up with a final decision by the middle of the month, he said.
