ASIA'S premier hotels have started to introduce amenities and services especially for female business travellers.

Some have assigned female staff for room service and others have designated entire floors for women.

 Most hotels, in fact, are making a greater effort to provide toiletries, personal care products and appliances to make tea and coffee in the rooms.

In some hotels, business machines are provided in the rooms.

 Hyatt International and Regent International are among properties in the Asia-Pacific region that have upgraded their facilities to cater for female guests.

   Recent research by Hyatt International at 17 of its hotels reveals female business travellers have special needs.

  'They are more self-sufficient than their male colleagues. They tend not to use hotel laundry services or business centres,' said Therese Necio-Ortega, Hyatt International PR manager for the Asia-Pacific.

'They are more interested in having facilities such as private faxes and computer points in their rooms and tea-and coffee-making facilities.'     They also liked to have irons and hair-driers in their rooms.

  Last year, Regent International introduced a women-only floor at the Grand Formosa Regent in Taipei and guests now indicate they enjoy the special security that has been provided.

 The Regent Auckland has been running a successful executive women's programme for two years.

   The Regent Jakarta, due to open later this year, will offer special services, including female room service staff.
