Viet cleared

A VIETNAMESE boat person was yesterday cleared of murdering a fellow inmate at the High Island detention centre. Tran Le Thang denied he had stabbed Tranh Manh Toan, 27, with the broken shaft of a badminton racquet. The killing was said to have taken place on August 12 last year, a day when a concert was being staged at the detention centre.
