STUDENTS from King's College will go on a study tour to Nei Mongol Zizhiqu in China next month to have a better understanding of its education sector, culture, economic and technological development.

Tour chairman Eric Tsang Sung Kei said his inaccurate impression about their destination was corrected after he studied information about the area while organising the tour.

'Initially I thought Nei Mongol Zizhiqu was not only remote but also backward. But later I discovered that it was a modern place with a lot of industries,' said the 15-year-old.

Eric said the organising committee, comprising 12 members, decided to focus on the area's economic and technological development too by arranging visits to local factories and science research centres.

'Contacting the minority groups and trying to understand their lifestyle is also one of our goals. The group will conduct simple surveys on different topics during the visits,' Eric explained.

'But our main emphasis is on education because as students, we want to learn more about the education systems of different places,' he told Young Post .

His views were echoed by the vice-president of the school's student union, To Chung.
