Mystery of the missing Klugel

OK, who's got the Klugel ball? A two-tonne ball of marble is a hard thing to lose at the best of times.

But when the sphere in question was the centrepiece of the Hilton Hotel's lobby until a few short weeks ago, it begins to sound a lot like carelessness.

The fact is, though, that Hutchison, the thing's owners, do appear to have mislaid it.

Asked repeatedly what had happened to the Klugel ball, Hutchison's PR, Laura Cheung, said 'I really don't know'.

The phrase was repeated by the company's Hilton project manager, Frazer McFarlane, and architect, George Liu. Ms Cheung finally suggested it must be in one of the company's godowns.

Strange, then, that one of the rumours doing the rounds is that it's been cut up so the marble can be used for other less decorative purposes.

Nonsense? All right. So where is it then? NOT everybody gets the same privileges as Hutchison when it comes to changing the face of Central.
