COLOURFUL Sydney-based jockey Gavan Eades was last night disqualified for 12 months by Australian Jockey Club (AJC) stewards, writes Graeme Kelly. Eades pleaded guilty to two charges.

He was found to have given false information to the AJC at an earlier inquiry, and to have taken money for race tipping. The action against Eades came as a direct result of information unearthed by a New South Wales Police Task Force during a drug investigation and followed up by the State's Crime Commission. Telephone taps during the investigation recorded conversations between jockeys and criminal identities.
