Store has many lofty gift ideas
THE Loft, in Seibu, has a wide range of Father's Day gifts.
Start with a greeting card, the theme of which may vary from the sentimental to the cheeky or rude. Cards retail between $16 and $35. Having selected the card, the search for a gift can begin.
Patterned ties from Giorgio Armani, IM Miyake Design Studio and Krizia feature subtle colour combinations that should appeal to many men.
'This year colours tend to be darker and more mellow, with regular print motifs, as in horizontal and geometric prints,' said Thomas Woo, the menswear buyer.
Ties come in various textures and material, including silk, and cost between $499 and $680.
Cuff links are always a treasured accessory and add the finishing touch to an outfit. Seibu carries several leading names in its collection, including Tateossian of England. Finished in either sterling silver or vermeil in 24-karat plated gold, these are textured and easy to wear.
Some feature large oval cabochons hand set in silver, with a choice of garnet, moonstone, iolite, amethyst, lapis and onyx, adding colour and class. Prices range from $840 to $1,480.
If accessories do not fit the bill, perhaps crystal decanters ($2,700 upwards) from Garrard will appeal.
Garrard, appointed the Crown jewellers by Queen Victoria, is well known for quality craftsmanship and is selling some of its pieces exclusively at Seibu.
Other decanters can be found at Casa, the interiors department of Seibu, where sets of two or three decanters are presented in teak wood cases with gold or silver handles.
Several cases even have locks to enable fathers to keep their favourite tipple under lock and key. Prices range from $1,800 to $8,040.
Vintage wine, showcased in a luxury gold-tooled leather-finished box, is one of Seibu's more personalised gifts.
'Customers can select rare and valuable wine from the vintage to match their year of birth,' said Diane Bolton, division manager of the distributor, Pacific Wine Cellars.
Only found in Seibu, the wine is presented with an original issue of the London Times, which will match the date of birth of the person for whom it is purchased.
Those on a tighter budget might prefer less expensive but thoughtful gifts.
Fathers who enjoy fine wine will, no doubt, appreciate a Garrard sterling silver wine label. Blank labels retail at just $195.
