AC MILAN have started negotiations to sign unsettled Italian World Cup star Roberto Baggio as they attempt to reclaim their position as Europe's number one club side.
Milan manager Silvano Ramccioni admitted yesterday that talks are under way to lure the pony-tailed Baggio to Milan - and beat arch-rivals Inter Milan in the race for his signature.
'We have started talks but it remains to be seen whether he will join us. We have a 50 per cent chance of winning the race for his signature. Baggio is a good player and we want to sign him if possible.
'We will see how it goes but we are confident of signing him.' Baggio recently slammed Juventus after discovering they were planning to sell him to Inter.
Even though Juventus are now trying to negotiate a new contract and Baggio desperately wants to stay in Turin, he will almost certainly be playing for a new club next season.
Milan, who arrived in the territory yesterday for tomorrow's BB Telecom Super Champions' Cup clash with South China at the Hong Kong Stadium, have had a disappointing season.
