A WELFARE group is looking for a Filipina who disappeared after allegedly working illegally for six months. Estrelyn Romero, 33, was last heard from on June 8 after she went to Immigration Tower in Wan Chai to replace her lost identification card. Later, she is said to have phoned a friend in hysterics saying she had been arrested and was in prison but was unable to explain what had happened or where she was. Pastor Charles McKnelly, who runs a hostel for abused domestic workers, said there was no record of her arrest with the police or the Philippine Consulate, and the Immigration Department had yet to reply to his written inquiries. 'The police are not allowing us to make a missing persons report because they say we aren't her immediate family or employers,' said Pastor McKnelly. 'We have no idea where she is, her family says she has not returned to the Philippines - we fear for her safety.' Ms Romero is believed to have stayed in Hong Kong after being dismissed.
