A SHARK was spotted off Clear Water Bay yesterday as a ceremony was held to mark the deaths of two swimmers killed in the area this month.

Beachgoers alerted officials to the three to four-metre predator just 100 metres from the shore at midday.

Police launched a search but found nothing, although a Government Flying Service helicopter spotted a shark further south near Lung Ha Wan about an hour later.

Monks from the Buddhist Youth Association and regular swimmers from the Clear Water Bay 1st Beach held the ceremony at the beach.

Since June 1, three people have been killed in shark attacks.
