JAPAN'S Sogo group is to open a department store in Beijing, after reaching agreement with Beijing Junefield Real Estate Development.

   The partners expected the store to be the largest of its kind in China on completion in 1997, with a total shop space of 1.3 million square feet.

  A spokesman for Sogo said: 'Due to the economic boom in China, the mainland Chinese now have higher levels of disposable income.'
