ABOUT 300 elderly people visited a museum and enjoyed a vegetarian meal at a temple in Tsuen Wan in a treat organised by the Wong Tai Sin Junior Police Call (JPC).
Last year, the JPC organised a similar function for senior citizens that was so well-received that it was decided to repeat the programme. A police officer with the JPC said the activity gave JPC members an opportunity to show their concern for the elderly and interact with them.
'You can cheer up the elderly with just a simple, low-priced meal, so why not go ahead with the idea?' said one JPC member.
Paying only $30 each, over 300 senior citizens were able to enjoy a good lunch at the Yuen Yun Hok Yuen in Tsuen Wan. Sixty JPC members, acting as escort guides, looked after the elderly all the way.
Before the lunch, the JPC members showed the elderly around the Sam Tung Uk Museum, explaining the various exhibits to them.
The participants thoroughly enjoyed the visit, especially as most of them had never been there before.
