THE fung shui master sensed that the vibes from Philippe Metoudi's spacious managerial office at Cedel Bank were beneficial.
It is a story that Mr Metoudi likes to recount as he relaxes on a blue leather couch in a sunny and bright work environment overlooking the bustle of Victoria Harbour.
The tale dates back three years when Mr Metoudi left an American bank in Hong Kong to manage the local office of Cedel, a Luxembourg-based debt securities clearing house.
One of his former colleagues soon let him in on a juicy tidbit.
'The fung shui man was called in and he told my successor at that bank that there was nothing he could do for the office because the guy who was sitting there before had taken all the luck with him,' Mr Metoudi said.
'So, I obviously contacted this fung shui man to study my new office.' When the master came over to Mr Metoudi's new premises on the 11th floor of Exchange Tower 2 in Central, he was pleased with what he saw and felt.
'He said: 'Your office is fine, you have a good harbour view, but you need a money plant to make sure your office will grow'. ' Mr Metoudi did not dare ignore the advice and invested in the plant.
