The Joint Sports Centre (JSC) will be the sporting home for students of three universities - City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

The venue has a track which conforms to International Amateur Athletic Federation standards as well as an in-field for field events.

Lui Lai-yue, the JSC's assistant manager, said: 'It is mainly for the use of those from the three universities.

'We would like to have the public use it more often, but we expect it to be used quite frequently by the university students.

'We have allocated six days of the year for the public to book events.' Lui said the facility took two years to build, although he would not say how much it cost.

But the project was financed by the University Grants Committee (UGC), which means the venue belongs to the three universities.
