A GANG of three robbed a cross-border courier at gunpoint of $1.7 million in foreign currency at Sheung Shui yesterday. The 47-year-old courier, who was paid $500 to bring the money back from Shenzhen, was waiting to hand over the cash to a colleague in a car park outside the Tai Ping estate when three men aged about 30 jumped into his lorry. The courier was pistol-whipped, tied up and blindfolded before the gang snatched the cash in yen and US dollars which was hidden behind his seat. They escaped in a blue car. The courier later freed himself.
