ABC Communications' net profit rose 9.6 per cent to $90.25 million for the year to March 31, compared with $82.31 million the previous year.
Turnover rose 10.7 per cent to $378.88 million from $342.22 million, with more than $300 million from paging sales and the remaining from mobile phones.
A final dividend of seven cents per share was declared.
Deputy managing director Patricia Yeung said the company had to give discounts of up to 35 per cent on the cost of the pagers, cutting down on the profits.
She said: 'Although our company has gone through a tough year in the retail [business], we expect the market to continue to be competitive.' The company has decided to close down six to seven of its 32 outlets. Without providing specific details, she said the company would reduce its workforce.
