BASF has signed a joint venture agreement with North East General Pharmaceutical Factory (NEGPF) in Shenyang, Liaoning.

  The German company will take a 70 per cent stake in the venture, with the rest by the Chinese Vitamins manufacturer. The total investment is almost US$30 million.

  The joint venture will take over NEGPF's existing production plants - for Vitamins A, E and B1 - which will continue its operations until new plants go on stream in 1997.
