TWO mainland businessmen told police they were cheated of $7 million by two Malaysian partners in a joint venture to operate a resort on Hainan Island. The victims, 47, and, 40, arrived in Hong Kong on Thursday with the cash, remitted through a bank in Shenzhen.

They were on their way to a solicitor in Mongkok with their partners when they were asked to go and buy some fruit. They handed the briefcase containing the cash to the Malaysians in Nathan Road near Nullah Road, but as they bought the fruit, they saw the Malaysians flee in a taxi.
