BANKS that want their staff to understand derivatives have a choice between providing in-house training or using outside trainers, such as the Euromoney Institute of Finance.

The institute's courses are aimed at mid-to-senior management.
'All the big banks and many of the up-and-coming developing banks support it,' said Ken Ghata, the institute director.
The courses use real examples.
Case studies and computer simulations form a major part of course material. Enrolment is limited to 30 to ensure participants have adequate access to instructors. The institute also provides in-house training on any aspect of the derivatives markets, according to Fergus Barr, the training manager.
