TWO men recruited from an illegal labour market unwittingly became accomplices in a botched bank robbery. A businessman, 48, entered the Hang Seng Bank at the junction of Argyle Street and Nathan Road, Mongkok, at about 10 am, with two men he had hired in Shamshuipo. The businessman went to the manager's first-floor office, leaving the two men in the ground-floor lobby. The man claimed his 'partners' had a petrol bomb and demanded $5 million from the 50-year-old manager. As the manager telephoned his colleagues on the ground floor, the man fled. The manager and three staff caught him at the corner of Fife and Portland streets. The two workers ran off. The suspect told police his business was in trouble.
