MUSIC is a universal language which unites people from different nations and local band Legend is turning it into a means to help others by hosting a charity concert in August.
Legend is made up of six young people with a genuine interest in music who aim to promote original music as well as charity work.
'We're in it for the music rather than the money. We raised funds for Oxfam last year,' said lead vocalist and drummer Simon Ma Hing-Man.
The band also staged some concerts last year which successfully raised money for the flood victims in China and for the refugees in Rwanda.
'We think Oxfam is a great organisation because it not only provides money for the needy but also teaches them how to help themselves and make further developments,' Simon said.
The Legend Music Group, comprising 20 local and overseas Chinese university students, has been set up to promote the concert. It is divided into three sections - sponsoring, advertising and programming.
The theme of the Legend '95 Heart Charitable Concert is 'Love'. Besides preparing English songs and rewriting Chinese songs, the band has also composed a few songs for the concert.
