Stars join fight for rights
THE latest series of Consumer Plan , produced by Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK), has received an encouraging response from the audience.
The programme is aimed at promoting public awareness about consumer rights.
With the Consumer Council as its adviser, the programme features consumer surveys with the support of City University of Hong Kong.
An oath-taking ceremony of RTHK's 'Consumer Action Team', comprising 20 members recruited from the public, was held recently to promote the programme.
Officiating at the ceremony were Consumer Council chief executive Pamela Chan, RTHK's head of ETV and Documentary Dominica Siu and City University lecturer Alfred Chan.
Also present were pop stars Vivian Chow and Ekin Cheng who shared their experiences with the audience and urged the public to report unscrupulous businessmen.
To explore consumer problems, the programme has set up a hotline - 2336 6352 - for audiences to file complaints. The programme is aimed at giving viewers a chance to air their grievances and opinions.
Consumer Plan is aired at 7 pm on Tuesdays on TVB Jade.
