BRITISH-based consulting engineers, Robert Benaim and Associates Asia has established a joint-venture company with a research institute of China's Ministry of Railway.
The 50-50 joint venture between the ministry's Third Survey and Design Institute (MOR3) and Robert Benaim and Associates (RBA) will seek opportunities in the huge infrastructure market in China.
RBA chairman Robert Benaim said: 'Our aim is to seek markets in China with our highly productive construction technology.' MOR3 was one of the first batch of design consulting companies authorised three years ago by the Chinese government to independently deal with overseas businesses.
The new joint venture would assist MOR3 to develop the skills necessary to win more work outside China, Mr Benaim said.
Director Richard Zhao Ji-long said: 'We are working together for markets in China and outside China, [we have] totally no political reasons.' RBA Asia was recently involved in design drawings for the railway bridges from Kwai Chung to the new Chek Lap Kok airport on Lantau Island.
