Shock waves smashed the windows and blew an air-conditioner from its fixtures, dropping it into the street.
Firemen believed the explosion was caused by a liquefied petroleum gas leak in the kitchen of a third-floor flat in Wan Hing Street.
A small fire broke out following the blast, which happened shortly after 11 am, as Lee Kwai-ngor was preparing a meal and trying to turn on the stove. The blaze was doused with buckets of water.
Officers from the Gas Standards Office were investigating the leak.
