ALEXANDER Au has been appointed a vice-chairman of Hang Seng Bank.

He is currently managing director and chief executive.

Mr Au is a fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants, the Hong Kong Society of Accountants and the Chartered Institute of Bankers.

CERTIFIED public accountants KPMG Peat Marwick has appointed Jack Chow as partner and Alun Grassick, Andrew Weir, Nelson Fung and Ian O'Brien as principals.

  Mr Chow specialises in privatisation of China's state enterprises and advisory services to foreign investors.

  Mr Grassick has professional experience in property development, transport and financial institutions. Mr Weir has professional experience in various industries including hotels, construction, infrastructure and manufacturing. He is also responsible for KPMG's Vietnam desk.

  Mr Fung is experienced in auditing listed and major private companies and specialises in hi-tech and petrochemical industries. He is also experienced in both outward and inward investments in China.

BT Fund Managers, the international funds management subsidiary of the Bankers Trust Group, has appointed Anthony Fasso as vice-president.

   He will be responsible for marketing the company's services to institutional clients, pension funds and government agencies in Asia.

  Previously, he worked in Bankers Trust's credit department and had extensive experience as a financial analyst.

ABSA Finance Asia, the Hong Kong subsidiary of Amalgamated Banks of South Africa, has appointed Wendy Poon Man-wah as manager for securities.

  Ms Poon has been in the banking industry for 16 years and was previously with State Bank of South Australia in Hong Kong and Australia, and Westpac Banking Corporation, Hong Kong.

  She will be responsible for developing ABSA Group's investment, private banking and securities business in Asia.

RICHARD Tsang has assumed duties as managing director of Strategic Financial Relations, a financial and corporate public relations consultancy.

  Mr Tsang has experience in handling flotation communications projects, as well as a wide range of other financial assignments, including international roadshows, corporate reorganisations, takeover bids, overseas listings and company launches.

NATWEST Markets has named Malcolm Clark as director of project advisory for Asia.

  Previously, he was based in Tokyo where he was responsible for NatWest Markets' corporate finance advisory activities, focusing on the energy industry.

  Mr Clark has more than 10 years' experience in finance.

DANIEL Li has been named managing director of finance and equipment leasing firm AT & T Capital Corporation's Hong Kong unit, the Capita Corporation Hong Kong.

  Previously, he was with Citicorp, where his career spanned a period of 30 years and included assignments in Singapore, New York, Saudi Arabia, Italy and Taiwan.

MARK Brisson has been appointed general sales manager for the DX Group (Hong Kong).

  He will be responsible for all sales and marketing activities.

  Previously, he was general sales manager at SKD Parcel Service.

JOE Cauchi has been appointed director of sales and marketing at Omni Saigon Hotel in Vietnam.

  Mr Cauchi has more than 19 years' experience in the hotel and travel industry.

  Prior to joining Omni, he was director of sales and marketing of The Beaufort Sentosa, Singapore.

DEREK Wharton has joined Organisation Development as general manager of the consulting division.

  He will manage the human resources consulting, training and systems divisions of the company.

  From 1986, he managed his own international human resources consultancy with assignments in the US, Britain and Hong Kong.

ROYAL Park Hotel has appointed Peter Wong as food and beverage manager.

  Mr Wong has more than 12 years' experience in the hotel industry.

  He has worked in China, Switzerland, the US, Macau and Hong Kong with such leading hotel groups as The Mandarin Oriental, The Peninsula and The Ritz Carlton.

  In addition, Cecilia Tang has been named public relations manager.

   Before joining the Royal Park, she was marketing communications officer of the Gold Coast Hotel.

JOHANN Angerbauer has been named food and beverage manager at Holiday Inn Lido, Beijing.

  Mr Angerbauer has 20 years' experience in five-star hotels in such locations as Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, New Zealand and Gambia.



Appointments
