Officer run down in chase

TWO men believed to be members of a syndicate involved in car thefts were arrested in a Sha Tin car park last night. Police officer Fan Chi-fai, 32, was injured during the ambush in Pok Hong Tsuen.

The two men were in a car on the third floor of the park when they were spotted. One jumped out but was caught as he tried to flee.

The other man drove down to the second floor, where Constable Fan was knocked down. The car came to a halt when it drove over spikes laid on the ground floor.

The car had been reported stolen from Tsz Wan Shan on July 15.
