THE Hong Kong stock exchange is holding a series of seminars on the risks involved in trading stock options, in a warm-up for the opening of its traded options market in September.
It said more than 170 people joined the English session held last night and 700 have signed up for four Chinese sessions.
Exchange executives presented the uses of options and strategies and outlined the risks involved.
Advice was also given on opening an account to do the trading.
Chief executive Paul Chow said stock options provided investors with a potentially profitable investment product as well as a risk management and hedging instrument.
Options market development director Mark Beddis said: 'Stock options are similar to options on any other type of underlying asset.
