IT was a 'heat wave' of a different sort. The music was hot, and so was the weather, and teen rock 'n' roll lovers were sweating it out to the beat.
Rocking the scene at Kowloon Park recently were five bands taking part in an open air concert presented by the charity organisation, Warehouse Project.
The bands produced good, strong sounds, and belting out the stuff as hard as anyone was a group of three girls calling themselves M2R.
'I think girls can do things just as well as the boys,' said M2R's vocalist and drummer, Myth Li Shuk-kee. 'People think a band is a man's game. I don't it see that way.
'But what's important is to have fun with your music and enjoy it with people who share your tastes.' The three young musicians banded together a year ago. The name MR2, incidentally, refers to the girls' initials.
'We're quite happy with our combination,' said another vocalist, Fung Kit-man. 'We don't think we'll make any changes.' M2R joined the concert because of the Warehouse's social service work.
