RUTTONJEE Hospital has begun an internal investigation into complaints surrounding the treatment of an elderly patient who died two days after being admitted.
Robert Chow Chung-nam wants to know how long it took the hospital to obtain the medical records of his late father, Chow Nee-sing.
Mr Chow said his father had been admitted first to the Hong Kong Adventist Hospital, then to Tang Shiu Kin Hospital and finally to Ruttonjee Hospital on June 29 after suffering abdominal pains.
But the 65-year-old died in Ruttonjee two days later because of a bowel obstruction and a hernia.
Mr Chow told the South China Morning Post he had repeatedly asked a doctor to check his father's medical records, but he says the doctor turned a deaf ear.
Last year, his father was treated in Grantham Hospital for problems with his chest, lung and abdomen. 'How could the doctor treat my father when the doctor had no idea of my father's past medical records?' Mr Chow said.
