A NEW air route linking Jinan, Shandong province, and Singapore will open on August 15, according to Xinhua (the New China News Agency). It said the service would operate via Shanghai. It quoted a provincial official in charge of air traffic as saying the route would meet 'the urgent demand of the mutual economic and trade activities of the province and Singapore'. Since the end of last year more than 350 joint ventures between China and Singapore were registered in Shandong, 53 of which amounted to investments of US$10 million. It said Singapore was the fifth largest foreign investor in the province.
