OUR company has recently moved out of a building on Hong Kong Island.
Based on the contract with the landlord, we had to return the premises on a given date.
However, our contractor could not complete the renovation on time and from August 1, the landlord refused to let him in to finish the job. That landlord is now asking us to have his contractor finish the job at a cost which is more than three times the cost quoted by our contractor especially for the material.
Are there any regulations against such over-billing? Is there any relevant authority we can contact to discuss this issue? The landlord has our deposit, our situation is not negotiable.
