CHINA now has more than 4,500 overseas enterprises, according to the Shanghai Multi-national Corp Research Institute (SMCRI).
With US$5.2 billion in investment, these enterprises include state-owned and collective entities, publicly held companies, joint ventures and private firms, according to the statistics.
Xinhua (the New China News Agency) reported that many firms were performing well, quoting Xie Kang, deputy head of the institute.
