Software firm lands US$25m aerospace deal
COMPUTERVISION, the ninth largest computer software company in the world, has announced a US$25 million deal with European aerospace giant Airbus Industrie to de-sign aircraft of the fu-ture.
This would be the largest contract in the company's history.
The agreement deals with the design and implementation of the future generation of aircraft for the Airbus Industrie, the world's leading aerospace consortium.
On a recent trip to Hong Kong, Christopher Martel, the director of marketing for Computervision, Asia, said: 'This contract emphasises Computervision's leadership and competitive strengths in the high-technology segment of the software and services marketplace.' Computervision makes high-end CAD/CAM software that has been used in the past by makers of cars, ships, planes and even items such as small machines and pottery.
Computervision is now beginning to reach out to the PC-based user.
Up to now, the base has been strongly that of the UNIX workstation and the mainframe.
