Airport site hits target

WORK on all 10 projects of the Airport Core Programme are making good progress with the seven government projects on target for completion by mid-1997.

Billy Lam Chung-lun, director of the New Airport Projects Co-ordination Office, said work at the new airport site and railway was making good progress towards the target of having both operational in 1998.

The number of major contracts awarded under the programme had now reached 147, valued at $90 billion, said Mr Lam.

He emphasised that there was stringent monitoring of both the progress and the cost of the project to ensure the programme was completed within the $158.2 billion estimate.
