HYUNDAI Merchant Marine of South Korea aims to become a combined logistics company in the next century, company officials say.
With that in mind, the company has drawn a business plan that will see it becoming one of the five mega-carriers in 2000.
Under the plan, the company's turnover will increase to more than US$7 billion by 2000, almost four times its revenue for last year.
The company's fleet expansion programme shows it will own more than 200 vessels in 2000, a threefold increase compared with last year.
'That fleet will provide for almost all modes of seaborne services in every corner of the world,' a company official said.
Hyundai's container liner services would be the first to achieve a global network by 2000, he said.
