THE widow of one of the engineers killed in the Castle Peak power plant explosion is suing the China Light and Power Company for damages.
Yip Au Lai-chun, has filed a writ in the Supreme Court seeking damages from the Castle Peak Power Company and China Light.
His husband, Yip Ka-pui, 40, and another engineer, Wong Kwong-yu, 38, died in the blast on August 28, 1992, which injured 19 other workers.
'I am not sure how much money the company will give us but I wish they could pay more to sustain our life,' Mrs Yip said yesterday.
She said it would be difficult for her to find a job now as she had to take care of her 13-year-old son, and the unemployment rate was high.
'I wish to get the money and find a stable place to live with my son for the rest of my life,' Mrs Yip said.
The family is now living in China Light and Power's staff quarters but the widow said it was a temporary arrangement, for seven years only.
