CHUN Kyung Shipping of South Korea will start calling directly at Tamashima Port in Okayama Prefecture next month as part of its container service between Japan and South Korea.
This will mark the first regular call at Tamashima Port by an ocean-going container shipping company.
The 156 teu (20-foot equivalent unit) Haewoo Frontier has been assigned to the company's container route between Wakayama-Osaka-Kobe and Pusan.
It will make fixed-day weekly calls at Tamashima.
The carrier will also provide services between Tamashima and the Chinese ports of Dalian, Shanghai and Qingdao through transshipments at Pusan on its South Korea-China service.
The South Korea-China service will add Xingang to its ports of call from early October.
