TRADITIONAL arts, crafts, dance and cuisine are being showcased at Malaysia Fest '95 in Kuala Lumpur. The capital will celebrate national culture in a summer spectacular from September 16-30. Malaysia Fest is being launched with a star-studded night of dance, music and song at the Putra World Trade Centre. All major shopping centres across the Klang Valley will be staging craft festivals. Top hotels will each 'adopt' different states to stage food promotions of national cuisine. At the Malaysia Tourist Information Complex, 'Heritage Cuisine' will be featured along with a theatre show, Scorpion Orchid, staged by the Actors' Studio; a mini-festival; cultural performances from various states; and a top-spinning contest. A domestic tourism expo and handicraft exhibition will be featured from September 21-24 at the Pernas-Sogo Shopping Complex. Meanwhile, one-off events include: A Teh Tarik and Roti Canai competition sponsored by Unilever at Sg.Wang Plaza on September 17. A choir festival with performances by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia at Kuala Lumpur City Hall Auditorium on September 17. Culinaire Malaysia '95 Food Festival at the Putra World Trade Centre from September 23-25. The Malaysia Fest '95 golf competition at the National Golf Club in Sabang on September 30.
