FOUR promising Hong Kong students have won scholarships from property mogul Lee Shau-kee to study at Oxford University in England.
They will follow in the footsteps of the 43 previous graduates who have benefited from the Lee Shau Kee Scholarship.
Wilfred Lee Hok-kong of Heep Woh College, Sally Kwok Hom-siu of Maryknoll Convent School and Ip Sai-chi and Hui Ching-yu of Cheung Chuk Shan College were all thrilled they would be studying at the prestigious university's Wadham College.
'It all happened so fast. I had my interview with the selection committee in the morning, then I came home and sat by the phone to wait for the news,' said Wilfred, 19, who scored five As in the Hong Kong A and AS level examinations.
'My whole life seemed different after the phone call saying I'd got the scholarship.' He will study Physics for three years at Oxford from October.
Chief Justice Sir Ti Liang Yang chaired the scholarship selection committee comprising Mr Lee and Preliminary Working Committee member Lo Tak-shing.
Wadham College warden John Flemming and college fellow Dr C. J. Wood attended the interviews as advisers.
